In our previous chapter, we explored the breathtaking genesis of the universe through the cosmic vibration known as Yulryeo, which birthed the Mother Goddess Mago and the ultimate ecological paradise, Mago Castle. This heavenly sanctuary was a realm of absolute purity, where the earliest ancestors of humanity lived in perfect harmony with nature, devoid of hierarchy, violence, or suffering. However, as is the nature of all grand epics, a pristine state of innocence cannot last forever. The narrative recorded in the ancient text of Budoji introduces a profound and tragic turning point—a dramatic fall from grace that irrevocably altered the destiny of mankind. This pivotal moment, often compared by modern scholars to the Western motif of the Garden of Eden, is known as "The Incident of the Grapes" (포도의 변).
