In our previous explorations of the ancient Korean creation myth and proto-history, we witnessed the tragic fall from Mago Castle following the "Incident of the Grapes." We also learned about the Great Exodus led by Hwang-gung, who made the ultimate, solemn vow of Bokbon (복본)—a sacred promise that humanity would one day cleanse itself of its newly acquired impurities and return to its original, flawless state of cosmic harmony. However, an essential question remains that bridges the gap between abstract mythological vows and the actual historical practices of the ancient Korean people: How exactly did they plan to purify themselves? However, as is the nature of all grand epics, a pristine state of innocence cannot last forever. The narrative recorded in the ancient text of Budoji introduces a profound and tragic turning point—a dramatic fall from grace that irrevocably altered the destiny of mankind. This pivotal moment, often compared by modern scholars to the Western motif of the Garden of Eden, is known as "The Incident of the Grapes" (포도의 변).

  Before the concept of time existed, before light separated from darkness, and before the vast cosmos took any discernible shape, how did the universe truly begin?
